A 105-year-old man is under investigation by German prosecutors on suspicion of being an accessory to multiple murders at a Nazi prisoner of war camp. The case is being handled by the public prosecutor’s office in Dortmund.
The investigation centres on the Stalag 326 VI K camp in western Germany, in what is now the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Prosecutors stated that the suspect is thought to have been a guard at the camp and is accused of being an accessory to multiple murders due to his activities there.
Stalag 326 VI K housed between 180,000 and 200,000 Soviet prisoners of war from 1941 until its liberation by American troops in April 1945. This investigation is part of ongoing judicial efforts to prosecute alleged participants in Nazi crimes.
