PC Mason O’Connor has been dismissed from the Metropolitan Police, becoming the 13th officer to be sacked in connection with an undercover BBC investigation into misogyny and racism at Charing Cross police station. The Met stated that PC O’Connor was found to have committed discreditable conduct and breached professional behaviour standards.
According to the Met, the dismissal is linked to a comment PC O’Connor made towards a female colleague. A disciplinary panel heard on Tuesday that in October 2024, while off-duty in a pub, O’Connor told a female colleague he “hope[d] you get raped on your way to Waterloo.” This incident was reported as part of a witness appeal and a “proactive wider investigation” initiated after the Panorama film was broadcast.
The BBC Panorama investigation, which aired in October 2025, involved seven months of undercover filming. Commander Simon Messinger from the Met’s professionalism department stated that he hopes the dismissals send a clear message about expected standards and the Met’s determination to improve its culture. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed that investigations are continuing against 15 other officers or police staff, and misconduct has been identified from additional BBC footage not included in the broadcast.
