The UK is bracing itself for a chaotic night as a mass of turbulent air sweeps across the country, bringing with it thunderstorms and torrential rain to 18 locations. Residents in major cities like Manchester, Liverpool, and Birmingham are among those in line for severe weather conditions, which could bring up to 30mm of rainfall in just a few hours.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, affecting much of England, with some areas also under separate warnings for heavy rain. Residents in affected areas – including smaller towns and rural communities – are being advised to stay indoors during the worst of the weather, keep an eye on local news for updates, and follow any safety advice from authorities.
