Twenty-three company directors have been disqualified for a combined total of 70 years following Companies House prosecutions in the first six months of 2026. These disqualifications, ranging from six months to five years, were issued for persistent or serious non-compliance with their filing obligations.
In addition to the disqualifications, courts also issued fines totalling £17,810 to these 23 directors. This included £15,600 for non-filing of accounts and £2,200 for non-filing of confirmation statements.
Martin Swain, Director of Intelligence and Law Enforcement Engagement at Companies House, stated that prosecution ensures individuals are held accountable for serious breaches of the law. He added that while limited liability encourages enterprise, businesses are expected to be transparent and accountable.
Between January and March 2026, 360 directors of 332 companies were convicted for filing offences, resulting in total fines of £129,970 for accounts offences and £53,300 for confirmation statement offences. Companies House was also awarded costs of £31,075.
