A late Bronze Age gold bracelet, believed to be approximately 3,000 years old, has been declared treasure after being discovered in Llanuwchllyn, Gwynedd. Metal detectorist Idris Thomas found the bracelet on farmland belonging to Geraint Edwards.
Experts from Museum Wales determined the bracelet is 92.8% gold. Brett Hammond, CEO of Timeline Auctions, estimated its value to be between £15,000 and £20,000, though an official value has not yet been given.
At a hearing in Caernarfon, north west Wales deputy coroner Sarah Riley described the find as "absolutely stunning". Experts at the hearing suggested the bracelet would have belonged to a high-status individual within their farming community.
The bracelet is being sent for analysis and recording. Storiel Museum and Art Gallery has expressed interest in acquiring the item following its independent valuation by the Treasure Valuation Committee.
