Thirty-three Pakistani scholars have been awarded fully funded Chevening and Commonwealth scholarships to pursue Masters and postgraduate programmes at leading British universities. Selected for their leadership potential and academic strength, the scholars will gain skills and networks in areas such as education, governance, health, and climate action.

A pre-departure reception was hosted by the British High Commission Islamabad to celebrate their achievement and brief them on the UK study experience. The scholars will study in various UK locations, including Bristol, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London, focusing on fields like biological robotics and diplomacy.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott CMG OBE, stated that these scholarships are a clear example of the UK-Pakistan partnership, investing in individuals with the talent and ambition to make a difference. Upon their return, the scholars will join nearly 2,000 Chevening alumni and over 1,500 Commonwealth alumni in Pakistan.

Applications for the next cohort of Pakistani leaders, researchers, and entrepreneurs for the Chevening and Commonwealth programmes have now opened.

Why this matters: The scholarships aim to invest in individuals who can contribute to Pakistan's future and strengthen links between the UK and Pakistan.
