Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has stated he will not let the disappointment of missing out on England's World Cup squad affect his game, insisting he will stay focused and motivated.
Wharton had another strong season for Crystal Palace, but despite his impressive displays, he was overlooked by manager Thomas Tuchel for the Three Lions' World Cup squad.
In an interview, Wharton expressed his disappointment at being left out, but emphasized his determination to use the experience as a driving force for improvement.
'I'm not going to sit and cry about it,' Wharton said. 'I've got to use this as motivation to push myself even harder next season.'
Wharton's comments come as a boost to Crystal Palace fans, who will be eager to see the midfielder build on his impressive form next season.
Despite the disappointment, Wharton's omission from the World Cup squad has not dented his confidence, and he is already looking forward to the new season.
'I've got to stay focused and motivated, and I'm confident that I can make a big impact next season,' Wharton added.
