Adidas sues Australian label White Fox over four-stripe design

Adidas has launched legal action against Australian fashion retailer White Fox, alleging its four-striped designs are "deceptively similar" to Adidas's trademarked three-stripe logo.

  • Adidas claims White Fox's four-striped designs infringe its trademark, which has been registered in Australia since 1957.
  • Adidas is seeking damages, including White Fox's profits from the products, plus interest and costs.
  • The first court hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday.

German sportswear brand Adidas is suing Australian label White Fox for selling and advertising clothing featuring a four-striped design. Adidas argues the design is "deceptively similar" to its distinctive three-stripe logo, which has been trademarked in Australia since 1957.

According to Federal Court documents, Adidas claims White Fox has been selling and advertising clothes with four parallel stripes of equal width since at least March. Adidas alleges this constitutes an infringement of its trademark and that White Fox is "taking advantage" of Adidas's reputation.

Adidas is seeking damages, demanding White Fox pay profits from the products, along with interest and costs. The first hearing in the case is scheduled to begin on Friday.
