Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon, and Malawi have all punched their tickets to the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil. Their qualification comes after reaching the semi-finals of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon), which is also serving as a qualifying tournament for next summer's global showpiece.
Algeria secured their first-ever Women's World Cup berth by defeating 10-player Ivory Coast 2-1. Morocco overcame South Africa with a 2-1 victory, while Cameroon edged out Nigeria 1-0 thanks to a spectacular 30-yard free-kick. Malawi, ranked 153rd in the world, caused a significant upset by coming from behind to beat Ghana 2-1.
The Wafcon semi-finals are set for Wednesday, with Morocco facing Cameroon and Algeria taking on Malawi. The four nations that lost in the quarter-finals – Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and South Africa – still have a chance to qualify through intercontinental play-offs later this year.
