Agility Robotics, a UK-based firm, has made a significant move in its bid to dominate the global humanoid robot market. The company has opened a 60,000-square-foot training centre in Fremont, California, a move that brings it closer to its competitors in the region.
The new centre is designed to accelerate the company's robotic deployments in manufacturing and logistics. Agility's humanoid robot, Digit, is already generating revenue in the real world, with customers such as Amazon, GXO, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.
Agility's CEO, Peggy Johnson, said that the company is committed to commercialising its robots and has already secured $300 million in contract orders. The company is also in talks with over 30 customers about deploying its robots.
Unlike some of its competitors, Agility is not planning to offer in-home humanoid robots anytime soon. The company's focus is on developing robots that can work safely and efficiently in manufacturing and logistics environments.
The new training centre is expected to play a key role in this process, with Agility's robots learning new skills in environments similar to those they will experience in the field.
