AI assistant Instinct introduces its own email addresses

Instinct, the AI assistant valued at $2.5 billion, is rolling out email addresses that let the agent create and manage accounts on users' behalf. Founder Noah Shinn announced the feature on Tuesday.

  • Instinct is giving users AI-managed email addresses to handle account sign-ups and communications.
  • The feature aims to reduce user intervention by letting the agent act autonomously, checking in only when needed.
  • Instinct has reserved some addresses for early users; others can claim theirs at mail.instinct.com.

Instinct, the AI assistant now valued at $2.5 billion, is rolling out a feature that gives users dedicated Instinct email addresses. Founder Noah Shinn said on Tuesday that the addresses let the agent create and manage accounts without cluttering users' inboxes.

The idea is to let Instinct handle tasks that require email, such as signing up for services, contacting businesses, or following up on requests. Shinn wrote on X: “For example, Instinct can use its own email to contact a restaurant about a special request, ask a business about availability, or sign up for a service it needs to complete your task.”

Users can also forward emails to Instinct when it needs information, add it to group threads, or send it long threads to analyse. The bot will act autonomously but check back when it needs input.

The feature follows recent partnerships with 1Password for logins and Stripe for payments, as well as a location-sharing update. Instinct says some email addresses are reserved for early users, with others available at mail.instinct.com.

Why this matters: The feature could make AI assistants more useful by reducing the need for users to intervene in online tasks, but it may also obscure who businesses are actually dealing with.

What this means for you: If you use Instinct, you may be able to delegate account sign-ups and customer service interactions to the AI, reducing the need to share your own email or phone number.
