AI startup founder Dima Eremin is in the process of moving his company, Bluedot, from its US headquarters to the UK. Eremin, co-founder of the AI notetaker business, states that UK regulations, particularly those aligned with GDPR, offer a significant commercial advantage.
Eremin highlights that the UK is the third most important AI hub globally, following the US and China. He also notes that the UK has produced 222 unicorns, exceeding the combined total of Germany, France, and Sweden.
Cost savings are another factor, with the average salary for an AI engineer in London reported as £83,000, significantly lower than the over £158,000 in San Francisco. The UK also hosts four of the top 10 universities worldwide, matching the number in America.
Bluedot, which has achieved over $4m ARR from an initial $500k raised, decided to store client data in Europe from the outset due to the privacy culture of GDPR regimes. This approach has reportedly attracted more US-based clients.
