An AI-generated video depicting Donald Trump as the Green Lantern DC superhero was shared on his Truth Social platform over the recent Labor Day holiday weekend. The video showed Trump wielding a glowing green power ring to construct his border wall, illuminate an “American manufacturing” scene, and command a fleet of warplanes and warships.
This video was part of a series of posts by the president, which also included musings about annexing other countries and unilaterally renaming places. Trump has previously used AI-generated images to portray himself as figures such as a Christ-like figure, the Pope, Atlas, and Superman.
Separately, over the weekend, Trump shared a map with a US flag covering much of North America, parts of Central America, Greenland, Iceland, and several Caribbean islands. Iceland has reportedly summoned its US ambassador regarding this post. Trump also claimed the moon.
The president has also signed an order directing federal agencies to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America” amid ongoing trade disputes with Canada. He has also suggested renaming New Mexico to “New America” and joked about renaming oceans and the Strait of Hormuz.
