Clipto, a San Francisco-headquartered startup founded in 2023, has completed a $15 million all-equity funding round, resulting in a post-money valuation of $250 million. Investors in this round include HSG (formerly Sequoia China), GL Ventures, EnvisionX Capital, Palm Drive Capital, Hans Tung, Lu Zhang, and 522 Ventures.
The company, which also has teams in Singapore and Hong Kong, reached $15 million in annual recurring revenue at the beginning of 2026 and maintains profitability on a net-income basis. Clipto's technology uses AI to index various files, including videos, audio, images, meetings, and documents, enabling users to search for content by description or through AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude.
Clipto's founder, Henry Kang, stated that the company was built on the insight that the current AI era faces an abundance of content, making it challenging to manage. While initially designed for video creators, who now constitute about one-quarter to one-third of its user base, Clipto's services are also used by lawyers, doctors, researchers, marketers, human-resources professionals, professors, and students.
The company reports that over 30 million people have used its products since launch, with hundreds of thousands of paying subscribers. Kang noted that a significant portion of customers remain subscribed for more than two years. The new funding is intended to support AI models, computing infrastructure for consumer hardware, and integrations with more AI agents.
