Reflection AI, a US-based startup established in 2024, has announced a substantial $1 billion agreement with Nebius, a European AI infrastructure company. This landmark deal will grant Reflection access to vital computing resources, including the latest chips from Nvidia, as the company continues its mission to develop open-source artificial intelligence models.
The agreement with Nebius, which was formerly the international arm of Russian tech giant Yandex, underscores the intense competition among AI firms to secure the necessary computing power for training and deploying their advanced models. This partnership follows closely on the heels of a similar arrangement Reflection made to access computing resources from SpaceX, indicating a strategic push to bolster its computational capabilities.
Reflection AI, co-founded by two former Google DeepMind researchers, has quickly garnered attention in the burgeoning AI landscape. The startup, currently valued at an impressive $8 billion, has already raised approximately $2.6 billion in funding from prominent backers, including Nvidia, Sequoia Capital, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
