Alison Hammond, the 51-year-old presenter of This Morning, has shared that her mother's comment on her size was the catalyst for her 11-stone weight loss journey. Hammond stated her mother had never commented on her weight before.
During a segment on the ITV daytime series, Hammond recounted her mother telling her, "Alison, don't end up like me; try and sort out your weight," while she was ill in hospital. Hammond has since focused on a health and fitness regime.
Hammond has emphasised consistency, support, and mindset over quick results. She thanked trainers, including Ellis Gatfield, for making her life easier through simple changes and kindness, highlighting accountability and support as crucial for long-term lifestyle changes.
In 2024, Hammond disclosed on This Morning that she was nearly 28 stone, which she described as morbidly obese. She also mentioned buying an extra seat on aeroplanes due to discomfort, a practice she no longer follows after losing weight.
