Amazon has unveiled the latest version of its Fire TV Stick 4K as part of its fall hardware refresh. The new device is slimmer, offers faster performance, and can be directly charged through a TV's USB port.
A key upgrade is the redesigned remote control. It features a new shape for comfortable holding, a metallic-finish home button that can be found by touch, and a recessed power button to prevent accidental presses. The blue Alexa button has been replaced with a more subtle black microphone button, also designed for tactile identification.
Responding to user feedback, the new remote also includes a programmable favourites button. This can be set to launch a preferred app or enable frequently used options such as Closed Captions or Dialog Boost.
The Fire TV Stick 4K is priced at $59.99, but will launch at a discounted price of $29.99. It is initially available in several countries, including the UK. The new remote control will ship in late October and is also sold separately for $14.99 in the U.S.
