Amazon Prime Video is introducing short-form news clips, expanding its existing news coverage. The company stated on Monday that these on-demand clips will feature both local and national stories.
Initially, the clips will be accessible on TVs and other living room devices. Amazon plans to extend availability to the web and Prime Video's mobile applications in the near future.
The new content will be found within the News destination of the Prime Video app, specifically in the Trending Topics and Local News carousels. Amazon could not confirm if mobile clips would be vertically oriented, only that they would be considered short-form content on iOS and Android.
This move follows other streaming services, including Peacock, HBO Max, Netflix, and Disney+, which have also added short-form content. These updates reflect an industry trend to cater to viewers seeking entertainment in shorter formats.
