Amazon has announced an increase in its minimum wage for US employees to $20 an hour, a rise of $1 from its previous starting level. The company also stated that the average pay for its US workforce has reached $24 an hour.

In addition to the pay rise, Amazon is expanding employee benefits to include grocery discounts. Staff will receive an uncapped 10% off eligible fresh groceries and everyday essentials on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market Online, along with a 20% discount for in-store purchases at Whole Foods Market.

This wage adjustment brings Amazon's minimum pay in the US in line with Costco, which set its lowest starting pay at $20 an hour in 2025. Amazon, which employs approximately 1.1 million people in the US, is the second-largest private employer in the country.
