Amey has landed two major £40m contracts with Network Rail for the Eastern Region, in a bid to boost the region's rail network safety, resilience, and performance. Under these five-year frameworks – which could be extended by another three years – Amey will provide critical assessment services, including detailed structural assessments of bridges and tunnels.
The company's role under the agreements is substantial, encompassing specialist services such as geotechnics and ground investigation work to ensure the stability and integrity of the railway's foundations. This award builds on Amey's existing relationship with Network Rail and its extensive experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects.
With a dedicated team of engineers, surveyors, and technical specialists at the helm, Amey will utilise advanced methodologies and technologies to conduct thorough assessments. The findings will inform Network Rail's maintenance, renewal, and enhancement programmes, helping to prioritise investments and mitigate potential risks across the network.
The contracts are a proactive measure by Network Rail to identify potential issues before they escalate, thereby preventing disruptions and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the rail infrastructure. Ensuring operational safety and efficiency is paramount for the Eastern Region's rail network, which connects major cities and significantly contributes to the UK economy.
