Andrew Scott's new true-life drama, 'Elsinore', has premiered to strong reviews, with the Irish actor reportedly in a leading position for the Best Actor award at next year's Academy Awards. The film is currently being screened as part of the London Film Festival.
Scott, known for his roles in 'Sherlock' and 'Fleabag', plays Scottish actor Ian Charleson during his final performances as Hamlet at the National Theatre, in the weeks before his death. Charleson, who was gay, died at 40 from AIDS-related causes.
Critics have praised Scott's portrayal, with The Guardian's Benjamin Lee awarding the film four stars and The Times' Kevin Maher giving it five stars. Vulture's Alison Willmore described Scott's performance as "phenomenal." The film is scheduled for a full cinema release in January.
