Andy Lord, currently Commissioner of Transport for London, has been appointed Interim Chair of the National Armaments Director (NAD) Group Advisory Board. The appointment, made by Luke Pollard, Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, is effective until April 30, 2027.

Mr. Lord joined Transport for London in 2019 and previously served as a Non-Executive Director and Board member for Defence Equipment & Support from 2018 until March 2026.

The NAD Group is establishing a more integrated governance model to support decision-making and risk management. Rupert Pearce, National Armaments Director, stated that Mr. Lord's experience will be invaluable as the Group aims to become an integrated, mission-focused organisation.

The Advisory Board's role is to offer independent support and challenge, ensuring the Group is well-managed and effectively handles its strategy, performance, and risks. Mr. Lord expressed his delight in the appointment, highlighting the opportunity to build on existing strengths within the NAD Group.

Why this matters: The appointment supports the NAD Group's ambition to create a high-support, high-challenge environment and enhance its governance model for effective decision-making and risk management.
