The Italian driver's win was not without incident, as he faced a virtual safety car period and a potential five-second penalty for exceeding track limits. However, he calmly kept his pace under control to cross the line just under two seconds ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who secured a well-deserved second place.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen completed the podium, taking third place behind Leclerc. Russell's disappointing result has seen him drop to third place in the standings, 50 points behind Antonelli and five points behind Hamilton.
