Apple has announced the opening of Apple Music Hall, a new live music venue situated in London's Battersea Power Station. The venue, described as state-of-the-art, is designed to facilitate intimate performances and connect artists with fans.
Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and International Content, stated that opening the space reinforces Apple's commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music. The 600-capacity venue aims to bridge the gap between intimacy and production value.
The facility boasts a 38-foot-wide stage that can be reconfigured for various setups, including traditional front-facing or in-the-round experiences. It is equipped with a 48-speaker spatial sound system and functions as a full production facility with two dedicated recording and mix studios. This setup allows every performance to be captured as a multitrack recording and mixed in Spatial Audio.
The venue also has infrastructure for 16 or more cameras, feeding a broadcast control room that supports both iPhone video capture and traditional broadcast cameras. This means an artist can leave a show with a finished Spatial Audio recording, a broadcast-ready mix, and multicamera video. Additionally, performances from Apple Music Hall will be livestreamed globally.
Zane Lowe, Apple Music's global creative director, commented that the venue provides a new opportunity to connect artists and fans, allowing them to experience and share amazing music. Apple also announced that all London-based Apple Music Radio hosts and shows will now broadcast live from new radio studios at Battersea.
