Apple has introduced the AirPods 5, its latest wireless earbuds, which include several upgrades. A key improvement is the active noise cancellation, which Apple states can reduce background noise by 50% more than the previous generation.
The AirPods 5 also feature volume control on the stem, a function previously exclusive to AirPods Pro. Users can adjust volume by swiping on the stem. Hands-free Siri and Apple Intelligence features are also included, allowing users to interact with Siri without their iPhone.
Other enhancements include improved Transparency mode and Adaptive Audio, which balances noise cancellation and Transparency mode. The battery life has also been upgraded, offering up to five hours of listening with active noise cancellation on one charge, extending to 22 hours with the charging case.
The AirPods 5 start at $129, with a version including a Wireless Charging Case priced at $149. Pre-orders are available from today, with the earbuds scheduled to arrive on 18 September.
