Fulham head coach Álvaro Arbeloa is under increasing pressure as the team sits in last place in the Premier League, with relegation fears growing. The west London club is scheduled to face Hull City at home this afternoon.
Concerns intensified after Fulham's 2-1 collapse against Ipswich last weekend. The team was leading 1-0 before Arbeloa made a substitution in the 70th minute, replacing Shea Charles with Manuel Ángel, which reportedly weakened the midfield. Ipswich subsequently equalised and then scored a winner from a poorly defended free-kick.
Fulham have dropped eight points from winning positions this season and their physical shortcomings were exposed by Ipswich. Questions are being raised about the decision by the Khan family to appoint Arbeloa, whose prior management experience was an interim spell at Real Madrid.
Supporters are reportedly restless, noting that Arbeloa has made frequent changes to the team and expressing worry about costly late goals conceded against Sunderland, Crystal Palace, and Manchester United. The club, which lost £45m in the last financial year, needs Premier League survival.
