A nine-year-old girl who met a swift and devastating end after being stabbed once in the heart has been at the centre of harrowing evidence presented during a murder trial at Bristol Crown Court. Aria Thorpe's tragic fate was sealed on 15th December 2025, when she suffered a fatal blow at her family home in Weston-super-Mare.
Pathologist Dr Amanda Jeffery revealed to jurors that the single stab wound, measuring 3.2cm wide and between 7.5 and 8cm deep, would have caused Aria to collapse rapidly after the attack. The distribution of blood at the scene suggested she had no time to react or defend herself.
The prosecution's case relies heavily on evidence linking a kitchen knife found in the home to the fatal wound. Dr Jeffery confirmed that this type of knife is capable of inflicting such severe injuries, further supporting the prosecution's argument.
Earlier testimony from witness Ollie Sheppard, who was staying at Aria's residence, recalled his horrific discovery upon returning home around 6pm: "I have literally just got home from work...A little girl who lives here is on her front. I have turned her over and she is covered in blood. There looks like a stab wound. Her face is going grey. Oh my god." The traumatic scene unfolded with devastating consequences, with police and paramedics arriving too late to save Aria's life.
The absence of any defensive injuries on Aria's body suggests the attack was sudden and merciless, leaving her with no chance to protect herself.
