Pop superstar Ariana Grande has announced that her eighth studio album, 'Petal', due for release tomorrow, July 31, was written from a place of "unfiltered rage". Grande discussed the album's creation in a preview of an Apple Music interview.
The singer explained that she usually filters her emotions more, often rewriting lyrics to be "kinder". However, for 'Petal', she chose not to. She described the process as tapping into an "unfiltered rage that I think we all feel sometimes," adding, "This time, I didn't filter as much as I usually do."
The album, released via Republic Records, features 12 songs, including the lead single 'Hate That I Made You Love Me'. Grande previously hinted at a more confrontational tone for the album, describing it in May as "a little feral" and from a place she had been "too shy or polite to tap into before."
