Arsenal are reportedly reigniting their interest in Aston Villa central defender Ezri Konsa. The 28-year-old is thought to be Arsenal's preferred option as they seek to bolster their defence.

The Gunners' initial summer move for Konsa did not materialise, with the London club reportedly only willing to pay around £30m. Aston Villa, however, value the England international at £60m. Arsenal are said to accept they will need to significantly improve their original offer.

Konsa, who is currently on holiday after the World Cup, played 48 games in all competitions last season for Aston Villa, a season in which they won the Europa League. His versatility is reportedly seen favourably at the Emirates Stadium.

In addition to their pursuit of Konsa, Arsenal have also held exploratory talks with Tottenham regarding a potential move for their club captain Cristian Romero. Spurs are reportedly unwilling to sell the 28-year-old to Arsenal due to the intense rivalry between the two North London clubs.
