Swiss runner Audrey Werro delivered a dominant performance in the 800m at the Ultimate Championships in Budapest, securing the $150,000 first prize. Werro, 22, finished with a time of 1min 55.88sec, marking another victory in a season where she has won all 14 events entered since losing at the world indoor championships.
Britain's Olympic champion, Keely Hodgkinson, took silver with a time of 1:56.26. Hodgkinson confirmed she had been dealing with a torn hamstring sustained during the European championships, which impacted her speed work. She expressed pride in her approach to the race despite the injury, stating she was "quite proud of how I approached that."
Hodgkinson's training partner, Georgia Hunter Bell, also achieved a second-place finish in the 1500m, behind Klaudia Kazimierska. Hunter Bell earned $75,000 for her performance, which she described as a "great race."
In other events, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the women's 100m with the fastest time in the world this year, clocking 10.62sec.
