Badenoch reshuffles Shadow Cabinet, names Andrew Griffith Shadow Chancellor

Kemi Badenoch has reshuffled her top team, appointing Andrew Griffith as Shadow Chancellor and making other significant changes to the Shadow Cabinet.

  • Andrew Griffith replaces Mel Stride as Shadow Chancellor.
  • Claire Coutinho has been moved to Badenoch’s economic unit and made Shadow Business Secretary.
  • Tom Tugendhat has been appointed Shadow Foreign Secretary, replacing Priti Patel.

Kemi Badenoch has initiated a reshuffle of her top team as Parliament returns, making changes to the Shadow Cabinet. Andrew Griffith, MP for Arundel and South Downs, has been appointed Shadow Chancellor, taking over from Mel Stride.

Claire Coutinho has been moved to Badenoch’s economic unit and will serve as Shadow Business Secretary. Julia Lopez will cover for Ms Coutinho until the new year while she is on maternity leave.

Tom Tugendhat has been named Shadow Foreign Secretary, replacing Priti Patel. Chris Philp remains Shadow Home Secretary, and James Cartlidge continues as Shadow Defence Secretary. Andrew Bowie takes up the role of energy secretary.

Damian Hinds has assumed the brief of Shadow Health Secretary following Stuart Andrew's departure from the frontbench to focus on constituency work. Katie Lam, elected in 2024, has been given the role of Shadow Housing and Communities Minister.
