Top Gear is set to return, the BBC confirmed yesterday, August 27, 2026. Ed Havard, the corporation’s director of entertainment, made the announcement at the Edinburgh TV festival, stating, “There has been a lot of speculation about this, and we can confirm that Top Gear is coming back.” Havard did not comment on potential presenters at the time.
Following the confirmation, speculation has begun regarding who might host the revived series. Among the names being discussed are comedian Jimmy Carr, model and racing driver Jodie Kidd, rugby player Joe Marler, CBeebies host and rally driver Catie Munnings, and actor Michael Fassbender, who is also a professional race car driver.
