The BBC has withdrawn job promises for a group of apprentices, citing “exceptional circumstances” related to the corporation’s extensive cuts programme. This decision has reportedly caused internal anger within the BBC.
Apprentices working with BBC News were informed that the broadcaster could no longer fulfil its pledge to offer them permanent positions. This affects approximately 20 apprentices, including those currently finishing their programmes and some from previous years still awaiting permanent roles.
