Belgian startup Any has introduced its first product, the LUV1, a modular electric motorcycle featuring 120 litres of cargo space. This design aims to address the need for carrying items such as groceries, weekend bags, or work equipment, which the company believes is a "missing link" in two-wheeled transport.
The LUV1 can achieve a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) and offers a range of up to 87 miles per charge, utilising two swappable batteries. Its modular design, conceived by former Pininfarina design director Lowie Vermeersch, allows for customisation with options like an open frame or panels for carrying pets or camping gear, as well as an optional windshield and racks.
Starting at €7,000 (approximately $8,150), the LUV1 is positioned to be less expensive than cars and comparable to higher-end electric cargo bikes. It is expected to require an A1 license. Following its prototype unveiling in May during Milan Design Week, Any has received over 600 reservations, each requiring a €49 ($57) refundable fee.
Any has raised a total of €2.75 million ($3.2 million) in venture capital funding. The startup is now seeking to raise €10 million ($11.65 million) or more in a Series A funding round, which it hopes to close by the end of the year, to scale up LUV1 production ahead of initial customer deliveries.
