The Buffalo Bills celebrated the opening of their new Highmark Stadium with a decisive 41-31 win over the Detroit Lions. This victory follows their 36-31 success against the Houston Texans in their season opener on Sunday.
Quarterback Josh Allen was a standout performer, contributing five touchdowns – three passing and two rushing – as the Bills scored six touchdowns in total. The team, considered among the favourites for the AFC Conference Super Bowl spot, quickly established a 21-0 lead.
Despite efforts from the Lions, including touchdowns from Amon-Ra St Brown and Sam LaPorta, the Bills maintained a comfortable advantage. Allen and James Cook scored for Buffalo, ensuring the Lions never closed the gap to fewer than 10 points.
Before the game, both the American and Canadian national anthems were played, with Canadian band Barenaked Ladies performing the latter to honour Canadian fans.
