Birmingham Green councillor charged with assaulting five people

A Birmingham Green Party city councillor has been charged with assaulting a member of the public, three police officers, and a police staff member.

  • Siobhan Harper-Nunes, 66, was charged on Friday.
  • She was arrested again on Wednesday morning on suspicion of harassment.
  • The councillor will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 10 September.

Siobhan Harper-Nunes, a Green Party city councillor in Birmingham, has been charged with assaulting five individuals, West Midlands Police have said. The charges relate to an alleged attack on a member of the public, three police officers, and a member of police staff.

The 66-year-old councillor was arrested on Thursday after police were called to the junction of Monument Road and Hagley Road at about 17:00 BST. Ms Harper-Nunes, who represents the Ladywood ward, was charged on Friday.

West Midlands Police also stated that Ms Harper-Nunes was arrested again on Wednesday morning at Monument Road on suspicion of harassment. She remains in custody as inquiries continue.

Ms Harper-Nunes is scheduled to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 10 September to face the assault charges.
