The woman confirmed to be the mysterious figure on the cover of Black Sabbath’s self-titled debut album has announced a new rock opera. Louisa Livingstone, identified in 2020 as the model from the 1970 album, has created a work inspired by artificial intelligence and Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
Livingstone, who has been releasing music under the alias Indreba, discussed the album's origins in a recent interview. The inspiration came from childhood memories of her father reading the 1871 novel, viewed through the concept of panpsychism.
She shared that the album explores the narrative of “myself (or Alice) falling in love with AI,” before realising it is “just a beautiful illusion along with everything else on the internet.” Livingstone also stated the album is about “getting back to being oneself and nature,” and confirmed using AI assistance for its production, including voice cloning and AI instruments and vocals.
