Blacksmith, an AI code-testing startup, has seen its valuation jump to $550 million following a new $45 million Series B funding round. This represents an almost tenfold increase from its $60 million valuation less than a year ago, when it raised a $10 million Series A.
The Series B round was led by Peak XV Partners, with existing investors GV and Y Combinator also participating. This latest funding brings Blacksmith's total capital raised to $58.5 million.
Founded in 2024, Blacksmith provides tools for companies to build, test, and verify software. The company has expanded its customer base to more than 5,000, a substantial rise from over 700 customers less than a year ago, according to co-founder and CEO Aditya Jayaprakash.
Jayaprakash stated that validating code remains a bottleneck in software development, particularly as AI tools accelerate code generation. Blacksmith has broadened its platform to include Codesmith, an AI coding agent designed to automatically fix failed code checks.
