Bluesky extends video uploads to 10 minutes

Bluesky has increased its video upload limit to 10 minutes, with a maximum file size of 300MB and faster upload speeds. The change brings it in line with TikTok's limit for in-app recordings.

Bluesky announced on Tuesday that it is raising its video upload limit to 10 minutes, up from the previous three-minute cap. The company also said users can now upload files up to 300MB and that upload speeds are 2x-3x faster.
The new limit matches TikTok's 10-minute maximum for videos recorded directly in its app. It also means other apps using the AT Protocol, which underpins Bluesky, can serve longer videos.
Bluesky's move comes as rival Threads allows five-minute videos, while X offers free users 140-second uploads and longer options for paying subscribers. According to Similarweb data, Bluesky's active user base fell by over 25% year-over-year as of July.
