Todd Boehly and Mark Walter have sold their 12.8% shares in Chelsea to Clearlake Capital, reportedly exiting with a profit after four years. Both men bought their stakes when the club was valued at $3.3bn (£2.5bn) and have now sold them at a $6.7bn (£5bn) valuation, according to reports.

Since the May 2022 purchase from Roman Abramovich, Chelsea's league finishes have been 12th, sixth, fourth, and 10th. During this period, the club reportedly spent about $2.37bn (£1.78bn) on 60 new players, while the current first team is valued at $1.23bn (£920m).

The club also set a new Premier League record for the biggest pre-tax loss. Other unachieved goals during this time include a credible title challenge, qualifying for European competition in two of four seasons, and building a new stadium, despite one being mooted.
