Boxer Lee Reeves, 31, is in a “critical but stable condition” in hospital following his knockout loss on Saturday. The Irish fighter was carried out of the ring on a stretcher after being stopped by compatriot Gary Cully in the 10th and final round of their fight in Dublin.
Reeves hit the canvas twice before the bout was waved off. Cully, 30, dropped Reeves early in the final round, then floored him again with a left cross, which immediately ended the fight. The referee checked on Reeves and received assistance in removing his mouthguard before further medical attention was given.
Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren tweeted his thoughts and prayers for Reeves and his family, stating the organisation was in constant contact with his team. A second statement from Queensberry on Sunday confirmed Reeves remains in a critical but stable condition, adding that more information would be known “in the coming days.”
Gary Cully also sent prayers and thoughts to Reeves, expressing hope for his recovery and acknowledging Reeves' performance in the fight.
