Boxing world predicts Garcia victory over Benn in WBC welterweight title fight

Figures from the boxing world largely predict Ryan Garcia will defeat Conor Benn in their WBC welterweight world title fight in Las Vegas.

  • Conor Benn returns to welterweight for the first time since April 2022 to challenge WBC champion Ryan Garcia.
  • Garcia is making his first defence of the belt after beating Mario Barrios in February.
  • The fight takes place on Saturday, 12 September 2026, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The boxing world is largely backing Ryan Garcia to successfully defend his WBC welterweight world title against Conor Benn in Las Vegas. The fight, taking place at the T-Mobile Arena, sees Benn return to the welterweight division for the first time since April 2022.

Garcia, 28, is making his first defence of the belt, having claimed it by decision against Mario Barrios in February. He holds a professional record of 25 wins, two losses, and one no-contest from 28 fights, with 20 victories coming by knockout.

Benn, 29, enters the bout with 25 wins from 26 professional fights. A victory would see him emulate his father, Nigel, by securing a WBC title. However, many boxing figures, including former world champions Carl Frampton and Anthony Crolla, are predicting a Garcia win, often by knockout. Tony Bellew is among the few predicting a Benn knockout victory.
