A French boy who was thrown from a viewing balcony at the Tate Modern art gallery in 2019 has been discharged from hospital, his family has confirmed. They stated that he now has a “smile back on his face”.
The youngster, who was six at the time of the attack by Jonty Bravery, survived a 30-metre fall. He sustained life-changing injuries, including a brain bleed and multiple broken bones.
Almost seven years after the incident, his family shared on a GoFundMe page that he was able to return to school for a short period before the summer holidays. They noted that lessons were tailored to his needs, allowing him to begin learning again and reunite with teachers and classmates.
His family plans a busy summer for him, including a tandem paragliding flight and a seaside getaway. He also intends to resume adaptive swimming lessons and maths tutoring.
Jonty Bravery, now 24, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years. He has since been jailed for assaulting nurses at Broadmoor high-security psychiatric hospital on two separate occasions.
