A man reportedly wielding a knife and threatening members of the public in Brighton on Saturday evening has led to two people being injured before the suspect was tackled by passers-by. Sussex Police confirmed that the incident, which occurred around 6pm in Sillwood Street, saw a man slash another across the face and punch a second individual through the open window of a taxi.
The suspect also reportedly pursued and seized a dog before being brought to the ground by members of the public. The two injured men, aged 28 and 29, received hospital treatment for their injuries, with one sustaining knife wounds to his face and ear. Both have since been discharged. The dog involved in the incident was unharmed.
A 33-year-old local man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in police custody. Authorities also confirmed that a knife was recovered from the scene following the incident. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing a man lunge through the back window of a taxi during the commotion.
Detective Inspector Stephen Taylor described the event as "distressing" and issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information. He assured the public that a "thorough investigation is underway" to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
