British Airways has announced a multi-billion-pound investment to transform the cabins of its A380 aircraft. The upgrade will introduce new First, Club Suite, World Traveller Plus, and World Traveller cabins, building on the launch of its new First suite in 2024.
The refreshed offerings are set to be retrofitted into the first A380 aircraft in the coming months. This extensive programme involves installing over 35,000 individual parts per aircraft.
Travellers can expect new seats in all cabins, along with new in-flight entertainment screens and redesigned galleys and stairways. World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins will feature wider seats, larger entertainment screens, and new blankets and pillows. The World Traveller Plus amenity kit will include Dr.PAWPAW moisturising balm and travel essentials.
The updated A380 will also feature a business-class cabin with 106 Club Suite seats on the upper deck. First Class will see significant changes, including new seats crafted by designers and manufacturers from Great Britain and Ireland, and centre seat dividers that can create a 'lounge' area for those travelling together.
Luxury British heritage house Swaine has overseen the new First amenity kits, which are available in-flight from Tuesday 6 October. These unisex kits, inspired by early air travellers' suitcases, come in royal blue and cream and contain a bespoke Circadian Rhythm skincare collection from Wildsmith.
A refreshed First dining service, available from 1 October, offers a 'From the Grill' option with British produce. First Class customers will also have access to an in-seat minibar stocked with drinks and snacks. British Airways has also announced an updated First Service Specialist training programme to provide a more personalised service.
