Broadcaster Ray Hadley has told a Sydney court that he used a homophobic slur and derogatory names when discussing his colleague Alan Jones. This testimony came after 2GB withdrew a confidential offer of a $4m contract for Hadley to take over Jones’s breakfast slot.
Under cross-examination, Hadley agreed that he informed police in 2019 that Jones had recruited colleagues at 2GB to “dig up some dirt” on him. Hadley also testified that a colleague had told him Jones had “marshalled the troops and said ‘Dig up some dirt on Hadley’.”
Jones, 85, is currently on trial facing 20 charges of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching involving six men. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The trial before judge Glenn Walsh continues.
