Emma Heming Willis, wife of actor Bruce Willis, has shared her feelings of "guilt" as her husband lives with frontotemporal dementia. She admitted to Hoda Kotb on the Making Space podcast that she was unsure about celebrating her 50th birthday in June, stating she has "not really been in the celebratory feelings of late."
Heming Willis, who married the actor in 2009, ultimately celebrated her birthday with a party organised by her mother and friends. She explained that she considers what her husband would want for her, believing he would wish for her to celebrate her life.
Bruce Willis, 71, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. His wife has previously stated that he "doesn’t know" he has the degenerative disease, attributing this to anosognosia, a neurological symptom that prevents a person from recognising their own illness.
Last year, Heming Willis moved her husband out of their family home, explaining that he would want their daughters to be in a home tailored to their needs. He now resides in a one-storey home with a full-time care team.
