BTS electrified London once more with their sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week, leaving fans euphoric and itching for more. The K-pop sensations' long-awaited comeback show was perfectly timed to coincide with England's World Cup thrashing of Mexico, which they cheekily claimed had received a welcome boost from their own 'luck'. As the seven-member boyband took to the stage, the capacity crowd went wild, eager to see what these global superstars had in store for them.
This highly anticipated performance marked the end of BTS's four-year hiatus, triggered by the completion of mandatory military service in South Korea. The 'Arirang' tour is a celebration in every sense, with group leader RM acknowledging England's thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico and joking that they always bring good fortune to wherever they perform. "London, it’s been a while," he exclaimed, addressing the frenzied crowd. "Congrats on the win last night. We always bring the luck to every place. When we were in Belgium, Belgium won, and now in London, England won. You see?"
The two-and-a-half-hour spectacle was divided into three electrifying acts, each featuring an innovative set design that wowed fans from start to finish. The '360' in-the-round layout, complete with multi-directional runways, gave the crowd a truly immersive experience, as if they were right on stage with the performers. Even the sticky north London evening couldn't dampen the atmosphere, with visual elements reminiscent of the South Korean flag adding an extra layer of depth to the show.
Highlights from the performance included the opening act with 'Hooligan', and a visually stunning rendition of lead single 'Swim', performed around a pool-like area surrounded by fabric "waves" created by a section of the 50 dancers. Fans also got their first taste of new track 'Body To Body', which samples 'Arirang' and features a modernised traditional 'ganggangsullae' circle dance. But it was the culmination of act two, with the anthemic 2018 track 'Idol', that proved to be the real showstopper – an exuberant parade around the perimeter led by BTS and flanked by dancers carrying massive flags and LED ribbons.
BTS's last performance in London was a historic one, making them the first South Korean group to headline Wembley Stadium back in 2019. Reflecting on their return, RM shared his appreciation for the city: "(Being here) gives me a lot of reminiscing. There was Covid, there was military, and now we’re here in 2026 together. I missed you so much." Groupmate V echoed these sentiments, stating that London is "the place I like the most" and praising their loyal fans for always exceeding expectations. Rapper and producer Suga added to the lovefest, saying, "I don’t think you guys have changed. You’re still a passionate country. I’m still feeling the same emotions I felt at Wembley."
