A prominent Burnham-on-Sea estate agency, Creswick Estates Ltd, has announced a significant rebranding, transforming into Edward Creswick & Sons. This strategic move, which comes after nearly four decades of operation in the local property market, aims to reinforce the firm's identity as an independent family-run business.
Alongside the new name, the agency has also become a member of The Guild of Property Professionals. This national network comprises over 800 independent estate agency offices across the UK, offering members access to a wider referral system and enhanced national marketing capabilities. The rebrand underscores a commitment to maintaining a personal and accountable service, according to Edward Creswick.
The agency will continue to serve the communities of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge from its existing High Street office. Crucially, the leadership and operational teams remain unchanged. Helen Hamilton will continue to oversee daily operations alongside Edward Creswick. Tom Creswick retains his role as social media and marketing consultant, working with Elisha Creswick, while William Creswick, who joined the business three years ago, also remains an integral part of the team.
The property market in the South West, including areas like Burnham-on-Sea, has seen varied activity in recent years. While national house price growth has cooled from its pandemic-era peaks, regional markets can show resilience. For instance, recent data from Halifax indicated a slight increase in average UK house prices in June 2026, though annual growth remains subdued. Zoopla data often highlights regional disparities, with some coastal towns continuing to attract buyers looking for lifestyle changes or second homes, contributing to localised demand.
For first-time buyers in the region, affordability remains a key challenge, despite potential shifts in house price trends. Mortgage rates, influenced by the Bank of England's base rate, have stabilised somewhat but are still higher than the ultra-low rates seen a few years ago. Landlords and existing homeowners in areas like Burnham-on-Sea are navigating a landscape of evolving rental regulations and property values. The agency's continued local presence and network affiliation could provide enhanced support to these different segments of the market.
The decision to put the family name at the forefront reflects a focus on responsibility and service quality, as Edward Creswick stated: “Putting our name above the door is about responsibility. It means doing things properly, standing behind our advice and delivering the service people expect from us.” This emphasis on trust and local expertise could be a significant factor in a competitive property market.
