A major incident was declared after a bus overturned on the A484 near Kidwelly roundabout in Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales, on Tuesday at around 12:20 BST. The bus, operated by First Bus, was travelling on the X11 service between Carmarthen and Swansea when it crashed. Nineteen people were injured in the incident, with six taken to hospital for further medical attention. Thirteen people were assessed and discharged at the scene, with no life-threatening injuries reported. The road between the roundabout at Parc y Bocs and Llandyfaelog remains closed while collision investigators carry out their enquiries.
The incident occurred on a popular route that connects Carmarthen with Kidwelly, Burry Port, and Llanelli. The area is a popular tourist destination, with local attractions such as Pembrey Country Park and Cefn Sidan beach drawing visitors during the summer months. A rest centre was set up at the nearby John Burns Centre to support those affected by the incident.
First Bus has confirmed that its team travelled to the scene to support the driver and passengers. The company has stated that the safety of its customers is always its top priority. The police have thanked the public for their understanding and patience while emergency services worked at the scene.
